In the second instalment of St Mary’s Autumn Organ Recital Series, the majestic pipe organ is the medium for this special concert featuring both spooky and sacred. Night terrors and other scary apparitions are evoked by Bach’s famous Toccata and Fugue in d-minor, by Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries, and Guy Bovet’s Hamburger Totentanz, among other works.
Gentler and happier spirits will also be communicated through music from A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream by Felix Mendelssohn, and light will also break through the darkness in works by Theodore Dubois and Dene Bedard, as those who have passed from this life will be remembered.
All are welcome—admission is free of charge.
