Come join us as we “Spring” into action for our 10th Anniversary Spring Book Sale!
Can you believe it?! Churchmouse Books began its existence a whole decade ago, in January 2015! It all started in a tiny back room with a handfull of bookcases and a half-dozen volunteers. It has grown into a wide, warm inviting space where connections are made and the whole community supports vital local charities. Over the past 10 years almost $100,000 has been raised for local food bank, housing and social service charities, with a further $40,000 supporting events and workshops and specific local needs of the community. Well done, all of you!
And so, on Saturday, March 8, you’ll find the usual wide collection of pre-owned books in excellent condition—thousands of them, on the shelves, on tables, and in the pews, each with its own story to tell. Plus a Silent Auction of particularly valuable books, and the now-regular wide selection of jigsaw puzzles!
We are also excited to have local authors in attendance to display their own works and meet the public.
Come around 10am for the cutting of our huge Birthday Cake, with some of the original volunteers and visionaries doing the honours.
And while you’re here, enjoy live music, share a cup of coffee or hot dogs or the Archdeacon’s famous pulled pork or vegan sliders from the grill, and a chat with your neighbours.
The Churchmouse Bookshop—which is also open every Saturday, 10am - 1pm—receives good-quality used books from the Greater Victoria community and gives them out to new owners in return for cash donations in support of St. Mary’s charity efforts and partners. In 2025 we continue our support of the Food Bank at St. John the Divine, Threshold Housing, Our Place Society, and more.
So, come and browse the books and enjoy the community. Bring your friends. Bring your children. Bring the dog. Admission is free. Donations of books in advance of the sale are welcome (received on Saturdays 10am-1pm)!
