Our neighbouring parish of St Matthias warmly welcome St Mary’s and all our neighbours and friends to join in a feast of pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, or Mardi Gras.
To ‘shrive’, in the old tongue, meant to ‘absolve’—an allusion to the traditional period of self-examination and self-reflection before Easter, called Lent. Self-reflection is good. But before we get there, we celebrate a feast with friends, eating the richest food we can find: pancakes!
So, come and join the feast! All are welcome!

Let the event organisers know that you’d like to join the pancake feast.
